   The thrills of traveling
AMBIA KHAN    BS-III                -feature
The fact that television and tourism have made whole world accesible has created the illusion that we enjoy but still what we see, feel and learn personally from visiting places is far more different from the one we watch on television. Nostalgia about my first trip out of town two years ago during summer holidays almost makes me teary-eyed. the excitement started from the moment my friend offered me a trip to Punjab with her family. and it kept building up inside me every passing moment untill the time the journey actually took place . Of course it was not an easy job to agree my parents to let me go with my friend "that over protective nature of Pakistani parents". but at last after two much emotional drama they agreed on letting me go with some list of rules to follow in their absence. the infectious wave of excitement did not subside untill i stepped out of the house for the trip with some traditional drama of my mother crying and shouting "apna khayal rkhna"
It took us one whole night and a whole day to reach Lahore in a car. Due to the weather of Lahore hot as hell we decided to move to Murree. The word Murree means "apex". it is also known as the "queen of mountains". The shinning pearl of Pakistan. as we entered Murree it felt like heaven . the wild rugged beauty of the area, the simple living of the people there and their unforgetable hospitality left impression on my mind. Mountains covered with lush green trees, cold atmosphere, fresh air, beautiful valleys and clouds hugging me with full happiness. the whole area look even more beautiful with the greenery around.
Me and my friend escaped from her family and went to mall road, the famous market. the road full of life, hotels, restaurants, handicraft, shops and happy faces. we roamed all day buying "sasti chezain" . The next day we went all together to patriata, we enjoyed the chair lifts and witnessed lot of great scenaries of near and far hills we stayed their for almost 5 p.m and then a man whistled all the way checking if there was anyone left and took the last cable car. The next day we went to nathiagali. the splendid scenic views , snow capped peaks of kashimir and kohistan on one side and the pothwar plain on the other. the green slopes , unspoiled, beauty of mountains was breath taking. After nathiagali we went to ayubia . we stayed on the "bandar point" a spot of murree-nathiagali road. We had alot of fun with the monkeys roaming on the road. They were so friendly that one of the monkey came and snatched my food and slapped me.
Although the purpose of travelling can be different for different people. While stateman visits other countries on a good mission, the businessmen for business the poet and writer may take a trip for a collection of facts and impressions for their writing and other may travel as tourists. Traveling is considered as a powerful tool for personal development. It builds confidence in you and teaches you to become responsible as you learn to take care of your belongings. If you are a frequent traveler , you will miss your home, family alot during the trip just like me . Even after having so many delicious dishes i missed home cooked food by my mother, staying in luxurious room of hotel i missed my messy room. But the wonderful joy associated with the trip somewhat reduced my sadness. roasts, naans, chapli, kabaabs and many other delicious dishes were good enough to satisfy my apitite. the most hilarious thing that happened to us was the rumor about the lion roaming around in the valleys and we were so terrified by the rumor that once me and my friend ran so fast after watching a donkey which we thought was a lion.
After visiting such a pleasing , alluring and fascinating place it was time to say good-bye to Murree. on the way home all i was thinking about the homeworks, house hold chores and all the undone work. My experience during the trip was totally different from that i had had in the city where i lived. my personal observation about the people , place and their habits was much more than i could have learned from books. I feel fortunate to get an opportunity to travel such a ravishing place. Good or bad travelling experiences can be real eye-opener and provide opportunity to learn from them.
